Charles Jeffrey AW18 - LFWM

Charles Jeffrey's shows are always like going to the theatre rather than a catwalk in the car park of Selfridges and this season's collections started just like that. Before the audience had taken their seat the performance started with wailing actors portraying the obsessive scum of human existence. When the performance subsided and the drumming started, the collection showed pieces that might be familiar from every day life, taken to the avant garde, like an argyle sweater stuffed to weird proportions, distorting the pattern on the body.

Amongst the drama and between the red devil and the demonic black angel (with wings et al)  a few wearable (as far as Charles Jeffrey goes) pieces went down the catwalk, and which could make a wave on Instagram. Brightly coloured patterned knits, a bright orange backpack and even the Instagram staple of a side stripe trouser would catch the eye of the streetwear shopper at Dover Street Market, even if they don't buy into the drama of the show; and that's where Jeffrey is successful in hitting both bases.
